Helping Kids Thrive with Occupational Therapy

Hi, I'm Amanda

I've worked with children for over 17 years as an occupational therapist. I love helping kids discover that they're more capable than they once believed, and supporting them as they reach goals that reflect their true abilities and potential. I'm especially passionate about incorporating mindful movement, yoga, energy work, music, and meditation into my therapy sessions. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time in nature, dancing, practicing yoga, singing in my church choir, cooking healthy recipes, making art, and playing games with my family.

Why I love what I do:

I love connecting with children and families and helping them live more fulfilling lives.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

I like in-home therapy because I get to experience the family dynamics in action, and can see what the child already has in terms of toys and play-space.

What Does an Occupational Therapist Do?

Occupational therapists support children in building everyday skills—so they can grow, play, and be more independent. If your child struggles with things like getting dressed, using utensils, paying attention, or staying calm in new situations, an OT can help. OTs focus on:

  • Fine motor skills – like holding a pencil, buttoning a shirt, or using scissors
  • Sensory processing – supporting kids who are extra sensitive to sounds, textures, or movement (or don’t seem to notice them at all)
  • Emotional regulation – helping kids manage big feelings and focus at school or home
  • Independence and daily skills – like brushing teeth, tying shoes, potty training, or washing hands

Occupational therapy supports kids at home, at school, and in everyday life—so they can feel confident and capable in the things they do every day.

How my practice is special

one
Music, Movement, & Energy Work

I bring my love of music, singing, and movement into each session to help children feel engaged, motivated, and at ease right from the start. Combined with my training in energy work, these tools help create a positive, uplifting atmosphere where children can build confidence and make meaningful progress, starting from day one.

two
Routine Training

One of the ways I support families is by helping to create smoother, more balanced daily routines—especially those tricky transitions like the morning and bedtime routines. These moments can often feel rushed or overwhelming, but with the right strategies in place, they can become calmer, more predictable, and even enjoyable. I work closely with both children and parents to build routines that support regulation, independence, and connection—so everyone in the family can start and end the day feeling more grounded.

three
Strengths-Based, Holistic Goal Setting

Your child is so much more than a diagnosis or a checklist of skills. Together, we focus on what your child can do, building on those strengths to create meaningful, functional goals that reflect their unique personality, interests, and your family’s values. I believe in seeing the whole child, not just the challenge, so our therapy supports growth in confidence, independence, and joy in everyday life.
