Heather Vann – Pediatric Speech Therapist in Fort Worth, TX
Helping Kids Thrive with Speech Therapy

Hi, I’m Heather Vann
I’m a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist with five years of experience working with children ages 2 to 12, primarily in school-based settings. I love using child-led, play-based therapy to help children build meaningful communication skills, confidence, and connection. As a parent of four children myself, I understand the importance of supporting the whole family throughout a child’s journey. When I’m not working, my family and I love traveling together, especially to the beach and the mountains for skiing adventures.
Why I love what I do:
Helping children communicate is my passion, whether through spoken language or speech-generating devices, and I especially love the meaningful connections and relationships built along the way.
Why I’m passionate about in-home care:
I’m excited to help children communicate in their everyday environments while empowering parents with the tools and strategies to support their child’s communication growth.
What does a Speech Therapist Do?
Speech-language pathologists (also known as speech therapists or SLPs) help kids communicate—whether they’re late to talk, hard to understand, or struggling to express themselves. They also support kids with feeding, swallowing, and social interaction. SLPs focus on:
• Speech sounds – helping kids say words clearly so others can understand them
• Language development – building vocabulary, following directions, and expressing ideas
• Social skills – learning how to have conversations, ask questions, advocate for their needs, and take turns
• Stuttering – supporting smoother, more confident speech
• Feeding and swallowing – helping with picky eating, chewing, swallowing challenges, and texture sensitivities.
Speech therapy gives kids the tools to express themselves and connect with the people around them—at home, in school, and in the world.
