Jane Cranston - Pediatric Occupational Therapist & NICU Specialist in Conroe, TX

Helping Kids Thrive with Occupational Thereapy

Hi, I'm Jane

My approach to care is deeply personal. As a parent of a child with special needs, I understands the challenges and hopes families face. Raising a deaf child, ASL was the primary language at home—an experience that deepened my belief in the power of communication and connection.

With over 25 years in pediatric therapy,I've worked in NICUs, outpatient clinics, schools and homes, supporting infants and children with complex needs. I've helped families navigate early development, trained new therapists, and created programs that make care more accessible. I have developed and led innovative services to support babies after NICU discharge and guide families during the fragile transition from hospital to home.

Why I love what I do:

Bringing your baby home from the NICU is a momentous and complicated transition. We know how exciting it can be and overwhelming. I want to support you and your child through this important time

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

By integrating practical sensory and motor strategies into everyday life, we build consistency and reinforce developmental growth beyond the therapy sessions.

How an Occupational Therapist Helps after the NICU

Our specialized OT are hands-on, personalized, and focus on your family’s real challenges and goals at home.

Our OT’s can help your baby with:

  • Feeding & swallowing support – making transitions safer and easier.
  • Daily routines – finding the right rhythms for sleep, soothing, and caregiving.
  • Sensory regulation – helping babies adjust after weeks in the NICU.
  • Motor development – building strength for rolling, sitting, crawling, and beyond.

Our OTs not only work with babies, but also coach you through:

  • Parent and Caregiver collaboration - building a process and therapy plan that fits in with your skills and concerns
  • Supporting milestones development - ever worry if your baby is on track? I can help teach you to signs and the exercises to encourage steady growth
  • Reducing burnout - daily routines is not just for the baby! Caregivers and parents can regain control of their daily life by collaborating on a family-centered routine and plan

Client testimonials

When I first met Jane when my daughter was in the NICU, but it was during our outpatient therapy sessions that I truly saw the depth of her skill and care. As an occupational therapist myself, I knew what to look for — and Jane quickly earned my full trust. She allowed me to step out of the clinician role and just be the mom.

Michelle
OT and Parent of a NICU graduate

Jane was the first therapist we saw after my son was discharged from the NICU, and she set the bar incredibly high for everyone who came after her. We quickly saw how exceptional she was—how deeply she cared for her patients, how much she valued their families, and how knowledgeable and skilled she was in her work. Even after my son was no longer her patient, Jane continued to support us. She taught me so much about how to help him navigate his developmental delays, behavioral challenges, and sensory needs.

Hannah Paugh
Parent of a NICU graduate

We will forever be grateful for the impact Ms. Jane has had on our daughter’s life. Born at just 25 weeks, our daughter faced more challenges than most could imagine. As a micro preemie, her developmental journey was anything but typical—but with Ms. Jane by our side, it became one filled with hope, progress, and joy.
