Kaitlin O'Grady - Pediatric Speech Therapist on The Main Line

Helping Kids Thrive with Speech Therapy

Hi, I'm Kaitlin!

I’m a pediatric speech-language therapist with six years of experience working with infants and toddlers in Pennsylvania’s Early Intervention program, as well as school-aged children in an outpatient clinical setting. Throughout my career, I’ve learned that children thrive when their whole selves are supported, and I’ve developed a keen ability to recognize when they may benefit from additional resources or support.

My approach focuses on building strong, trusting relationships from the start, maintaining open communication with caregivers about progress, using a strengths-based mindset, and making play a central part of every session.

Why I love what I do:

Being a speech therapist is incredibly fulfilling, as I love seeing children make progress toward their communication goals and witnessing the pride and excitement their families feel with each success.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

My first job after graduating was providing early intervention services in homes and daycares, and even as I’ve grown in my career, I’ve continued working in Early Intervention because I love building meaningful connections with families in their natural environments and coaching parents to support their children throughout the week.

What does a Speech Therapist Do?

Speech-language pathologists (also known as speech therapists or SLPs) help kids communicate—whether they’re late to talk, hard to understand, or struggling to express themselves. They also support kids with feeding, swallowing, and social interaction. SLPs focus on:
Speech sounds – helping kids say words clearly so others can understand them

Language development – building vocabulary, following directions, and expressing ideas

Social skills – learning how to have conversations, ask questions, advocate for their needs, and take turns

Stuttering – supporting smoother, more confident speech

Feeding and swallowing – helping with picky eating, chewing, swallowing challenges, and texture sensitivities. Speech therapy gives kids the tools to express themselves and connect with the people around them—at home, in school, and in the world.

How my practice is special

one
Comprehensive, Whole-Child Approach

I understand that children thrive when all aspects of their development are supported, and carefully assess each child’s unique needs. I make sure additional resources and support systems are provided when necessary.

two
Strong Family Partnerships

I prioritize open, ongoing communication with caregivers, keeping families informed and involved every step of the way. Parents and caregivers are treated as essential collaborators in the child’s progress.

three
Play-Based, Strengths-Focused Therapy

Every session incorporates play and a strengths-based approach, making therapy engaging, meaningful, and tailored to each child’s interests and abilities. This approach helps children build skills naturally and confidently.
