Helping Kids Thrive with Speech Therapy

Hi, I'm Kami!

Hi, I'm Kami (she/her), a licensed speech-language pathologist with over 3 years of experience supporting toddlers to teenagers in public school and private practice settings. I focus on kids ages 2–7 and specialize in speech and language delays, supporting kids with Autism and ADHD, and Gestalt Language Processing (also called echolalia or scripting). My sessions are neurodiversity-affirming, play-based, and tailored to each child's interests. I love collaborating with families, especially on using AAC tools like speech devices, and helping bilingual children maintain their home language(s).

Why I love what I do:

I love helping people understand each other better. Through speech therapy, I help kids speak more clearly AND I help caregivers listen, and seeing families connect and understand each other is priceless.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

I'm excited about in-home therapy because it allows me to collaborate closely with families, support children in their natural environment, and help families incorporate communication strategies into their daily routines without the stress of traveling to appointments.

What Does a Speech Therapist Do?

Speech-language pathologists (also known as speech therapists or SLPs) help kids communicate—whether they’re late to talk, hard to understand, or struggling to express themselves. They also support kids with feeding, swallowing, and social interaction. SLPs focus on:

Speech sounds – helping kids say words clearly so others can understand them
Language development – building vocabulary, following directions, and expressing ideas
Social skills – learning how to have conversations, ask questions, advocate for their needs, and take turns
Stuttering – supporting smoother, more confident speech
Feeding and swallowing – helping with picky eating, chewing, swallowing challenges, and texture sensitivities

Speech therapy gives kids the tools to express themselves and connect with the people around them—at home, in school, and in the world.

How my practice is special

one
Personalized Care

I believe that children learn best through play, and they most enjoy playing with things they're interested in. I regularly take notes on what does and does not interest my clients, and I personalize my therapy sessions based on those interests. This helps me build deeper connections with my clients, and it supports communication — most people like to talk about the things they enjoy!

two
Leading with Respect

My gentle manner and the full attention I give my clients makes them feel safe and seen. I take children seriously; I know what may seem like a small issue to adults often feels huge to kids, and I listen, respond, and act in a way that honors those very real feelings. I am excellent at developing rapport, and children tend to trust me.

three
Progress Through Play

I love that I get to PLAY. I get to do things like use silly voices while singing nursery rhyme songs, push kids on swings, play pretend with stuffed animals, and read engaging books. There is a lot of laughter, joy, and fun in my work, and I'm so grateful for that. Play isn't just enjoyable—it's actually how children learn best. When kids are engaged and having fun, they're more motivated to try new sounds, practice communication skills, and take risks with their language.
