Katie Carda - Pediatric Occupational Therapist in Wellesley, MA
Helping Kids Thrive with Occupational Therapy

Hi, I'm Katie
I'm a dedicated occupational therapist with 16 years of experience supporting families as their child grows into an emotionally aware, independent person who can advocate for their self with adults as well as peers. I value collaboration with adults from all environments that the child encounters during their day so that there can be consistency in approach and carry-over. Treatment is a dynamic process and adjusting strategies as well as goals as needed ensures that the client-therapist relationship remains intentional.
Why I love what I do:
I love meeting new families, experiencing the uniqueness of each family life style and parenting style. Sharing the knowledge and experience that I have while also learning from others.
Why I’m passionate about in-home care:
Seeing a client in their natural environment is the best way to create comprehensive plans that incorporate accessible strategies.
What does an Occupational Therapist Do?
Occupational therapists support children in building everyday skills—so they can grow, play, and be more independent. If your child struggles with things like getting dressed, using utensils, paying attention, or staying calm in new situations, an OT can help. OTs focus on:
- Fine motor skills – like holding a pencil, buttoning a shirt, or using scissors
- Sensory processing – supporting kids who are extra sensitive to sounds, textures, or movement (or don’t seem to notice them at all)
- Emotional regulation – helping kids manage big feelings and focus at school or home
- Independence and daily skills – like brushing teeth, tying shoes, potty training, or washing hands
Occupational therapy supports kids at home, at school, and in everyday life—so they can feel confident and capable in the things they do every day.
My Specialties
I specialize in:

How my practice is special
Natural Environment Therapy
I use the client's natural environment for therapeutic activities. By working within familiar surroundings rather than clinical settings, your child develops practical skills that transfer directly to daily life, making progress more meaningful and lasting.
Process-Oriented, Child-Led Approach
I follow the child's lead so as to ensure that the area of challenge that has been identified, as well as any underlying gaps that might be leading to the same challenge or a different challenge, are addressed equally. This approach allows me to address both visible challenges and underlying developmental needs.
Music as a Path to Regulation
I have found music to be an extraordinary resource in creating a sense of felt safety for the child such that new skills can be readily accessed. Through music, your child can develop regulation skills supporting prosocial behaviors and overall development in a comfortable, engaging environment.
