Helping Kids Thrive with Speech Therapy

Hi, I'm Laura CCC-SLP

I am a very enthusiastic Speech-Language Pathologist!  My experience includes working with a range of abilities in schools, private clinics, & homes. I currently work in a preschool. I love to incorporate creative play, movement, and music in my sessions, and I believe that we see the greatest amount of progress when a child is feeling comfortable and having fun.

Why I love what I do:

I love seeing progress with a child's communication and supporting families through what can be a confusing and overwhelming time. I genuinely enjoy playing and having fun, as well as seeing a child's confidence grow as their ability to communicate grows.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

I know that traveling to clinics can be a barrier for families. I think in-home therapy is most functional, especially for young kids, because home is their primary environment, so skills are more likely to be generalized. Additionally, I believe that it is important to coach and empower caregivers to be a part of therapy.

What does a Speech Therapist Do?

Speech-language pathologists (also known as speech therapists or SLPs) help kids communicate—whether they’re late to talk, hard to understand, or struggling to express themselves. They also support kids with feeding, swallowing, and social interaction. SLPs focus on:

  • Speech sounds – helping kids say words clearly so others can understand them
  • Language development – building vocabulary, following directions, and expressing ideas
  • Social skills – learning how to have conversations, ask questions, advocate for their needs, and take turns
  • Stuttering – supporting smoother, more confident speech
  • Feeding and swallowing – helping with picky eating, chewing, swallowing challenges, and texture sensitivities

Speech therapy gives kids the tools to express themselves and connect with the people around them—at home, in school, and in the world.

How my practice is special

one
Whole-Child & Family-Centered Approach

I view each child as a whole person and take their family and environment into account throughout the therapy process, creating more meaningful and individualized support.

two
Honest, Down-to-Earth Communication

I’m honest and straightforward, and I understand the real life challenges families face—especially the specific challenges that come with raising a child with a disability.

three
Parent Empowerment Through Transparency

I want to empower parents to be part of therapy while meeting them where they are—not putting an unrealistic amount of pressure on them. I like to explain what I’m doing so they understand the therapy process and how I’m thinking.

Client testimonials

Laura is wonderful!! I felt like Laura was able to improve our daughter’s speech within a few sessions. Our daughter also received speech services in the school setting but what Laura was able to provide made more of a difference in just a few sessions than the school did during the entire school year. We would 100% recommend Laura for speech services!!

Parent of a 10 year old on The North Shore

I am so happy we found Laura.Laura gives us easy and personalized activities to do with our daughter in between sessions, and I have already seen a substantial amount of progress in just a few months. She tailors the therapy activities to involve things that my daughter is interested in, and my daughter loves working with Laura.
