Lauren Hoffmann - Pediatric Speech Therapist in Greater Boston
Helping Kids Thrive with Speech Therapy

Hi, I'm Lauren!
I'm a passionate speech language pathologist with 2 years of experience using evidence-based practice to help children and their families grow communication and self-advocacy skills. I value the needs of each child I support, and prioritize using culturally competent care to uplift families in a holistic and functional way.
Why I love what I do:
I believe that communication is a human right, and this job allows me to support people in accessing that right in a functional, meaningful way. I love getting to be a part of people's lives and support their growth through speech and communication skills.
Why I’m passionate about in-home care:
I'm excited to support kids and their families in their home environments! The work we do together can seamlessly integrate into their everyday lives and make a lasting impact.
What Does a Speech Therapist Do?
Speech-language pathologists (also known as speech therapists or SLPs) help kids communicate. We support children who may be late to talk, hard to understand, or having trouble expressing themselves. SLPs also work with feeding, swallowing, and social interaction skills.
Areas we focus on include:
- Speech Sounds: Helping children to clearly produce and perceive speech sounds to support clarity of speech and early literacy skills
- Language Development: Supporting the expansion of expressive language and increase in understanding of language
- Social Communication: Empowering clients to use and understand verbal and nonverbal language for social purposes. This can include advocating for needs, asking questions, and understanding nonliteral language.
- Stuttering/Fluency: Providing resources and support for children who stutter to communicate confidently and effectively.
- Feeding and Swallowing: Helping children with chewing, swallowing, and sensory challenges related to eating and drinking.
Speech therapy gives children the tools to express themselves and connect with the people around them: at home, at school, and in the community.

How my practice is special
Holistic, Whole-Family Care
As a client-centered provider, I value the needs of children and their families as a whole, rather than viewing their strengths and areas of challenge in isolated bubbles. I strive to support them in a holistic and culturally sensitive way.
Evidence-Based Best Practices
I practice as an evidence-based clinician and continuously evaluate if my services are in line with the current best practices in my field. I am proud to support my clients to the best of my ability.
Collaborative, Relationship-Centered Approach
I take the time to get to know kids and their families, and what matters to them. I care deeply about the families I work with and value their perspectives; we work together as a team to reach communication goals. I also value incorporating other relevant providers to ensure my clients are getting support in every way that they need it.
