Helping Kids Thrive with Speech Therapy

Hi, I’m Marissa!

I’m a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist with a Masters in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from NYU. I have 10 years of experience specializing in language development, early communication, AAC, autism, and behavior support, and I use a child-led, play-based approach to help children build communication skills and confidence while partnering closely with families.

Why I love what I do:

I find it incredibly rewarding to help children develop lifelong communication skills, partner with families to support progress at home, and celebrate each child’s unique strengths and interests.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

It helps families incorporate strategies into their daily routines in a natural, manageable way, while providing children with the comfort of home to support language development and meaningful progress.

What does a Speech Therapist Do?

Speech-language pathologists (also known as speech therapists or SLPs) help kids communicate—whether they’re late to talk, hard to understand, or struggling to express themselves. They also support kids with feeding, swallowing, and social interaction.

SLPs focus on:
Speech sounds – helping kids say words clearly so others can understand them

Language development – building vocabulary, following directions, and expressing ideas

Social skills – learning how to have conversations, ask questions, advocate for their needs, and take turns

Stuttering – supporting smoother, more confident speech

Feeding and swallowing – helping with picky eating, chewing, swallowing challenges, and texture sensitivities.

Speech therapy gives kids the tools to express themselves and connect with the people around them—at home, in school, and in the world.

How my practice is special

one
Parent Perspective & Real-Life Strategies

As a mom of two young boys, I understand the realities of family life and focus on embedding therapy strategies into practical, functional daily routines that are easy to carry over at home.

two
Personal Understanding of the Therapy Journey

Because my own children receive OT services, I can relate to the experiences, questions, and challenges families may encounter, allowing me to provide support with empathy and understanding.

three
Accessible Support & Family Resources

I make myself available to answer questions between sessions and provide families with a variety of resources to explore before investing in materials, helping them feel informed and supported throughout the therapy process.
