Meghan Thomas – Pediatric Occupational Therapist in Boston, MA

Helping Kids Thrive with Occupational Therapy

Hi, I’m Meghan!

I’m a pediatric Occupational Therapist with 20 years of experience across outpatient, early intervention, school, and inpatient settings. I bring a fun, high-energy approach to sessions while also serving as a supportive coach for caregivers, with a strong focus on nonjudgmental collaboration. I have extensive training in feeding therapy, specializing in Responsive Feeding Therapy, where I emphasize caregiver coaching and a no-pressure approach to help children of all ages and their families build skills, confidence, and enjoyment during mealtimes.

Why I love what I do:

Feeding is a daily, trust-based experience, and when challenges arise it can feel overwhelming, so I find it incredibly rewarding to help children build skills and confidence while partnering with caregivers to create positive, meaningful mealtimes for the whole family.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

I worked in Early Intervention for seven years and value in-home therapy as a natural, comfortable setting where caregivers are recognized as essential team members, allowing me to collaborate respectfully within their routines and support meaningful, lasting progress for the child and family.

What does an Occupational Therapist Do?

Occupational therapists support children in building everyday skills—so they can grow, play, and be more independent. If your child struggles with things like getting dressed, using utensils, paying attention, or staying calm in new situations, an OT can help.

OTs focus on:

Fine motor skills – like holding a pencil, buttoning a shirt, or using scissors

Sensory processing – supporting kids who are extra sensitive to sounds, textures, or movement (or don’t seem to notice them at all)

Emotional regulation – helping kids manage big feelings and focus at school or home

Independence and daily skills – like brushing teeth, tying shoes, potty training, or washing hands.

Occupational therapy supports kids at home, at school, and in everyday life—so they can feel confident and capable in the things they do every day.

With hospital-based feeding team experience, I support families in connecting with appropriate specialists such as RDs, GIs, and SLPs to ensure safety, readiness for intervention, and a full understanding of each child’s needs.

three
Evidence-Based, Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice

Through extensive training and collaboration with SLPs, RDs, psychologists, and BCBAs, I integrate multiple intervention approaches that are evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and aligned with each family’s values.
