Helping Kids Thrive with Occupational Therapy

Hi, I'm Melissa

A pediatric occupational therapist with established roots in New England. My family includes my husband, our two kids, and our 15 year old dog. We recently relocated from MA to NH to raise our family. I have been practicing as an OT for 5 years; working in a hospital based outpatient pediatric rehabilitation setting, and most recently in the home setting. As a therapist, I have always felt it is necessary to build rapport and establish therapeutic relationships with families. My approach focuses on supporting development through meaningful experiences, while empowering caregivers to feel confident and involved every step of the way in the comfort of their own home.

I have pursued other focus areas of OT, including specializing in infant massage coaching and aquatic therapy. I want to support parents in building strong, confident bonds with their babies. Through a nurturing coaching model, I guide caregivers in understanding their babies needs using therapeutic intentional touch, co-regulation, and connection-based techniques to promote emotional and physical well-being. I want to empower parents to feel confident, calm, and supported.

With aquatic therapy, I incorporate a sensory and motor-based approach to support children 1:1 by improving their strength, endurance, coordination, balance, sensory processing, and overall body awareness through therapeutic play and movement experiences.

Why I love what I do:

I found myself always feeling that I belonged in pediatrics, and wanting to pursue further training and specialties in order to meet the growing need of what makes this profession so unique. When you feel valued and supported by what you do, you take great pride in working hard to help families navigate challenges, problem solve, and make progress every day.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

I love being present in the lives of the families I work with. I am able to gather so much more about a child and their family by being in their natural environment. Experiences happen so much more organically and I find it very empowering.

What does and Occupational Therapist Do?

Occupational therapists support children in building everyday skills—so they can grow, play, and be more independent. If your child struggles with things like getting dressed, using utensils, paying attention, or staying calm in new situations, an OT can help. OTs focus on:

  • Fine motor skills – like holding a pencil, buttoning a shirt, or using scissors
  • Sensory processing – supporting kids who are extra sensitive to sounds, textures, or movement (or don’t seem to notice them at all)
  • Emotional regulation – helping kids manage big feelings and focus at school or home
  • Independence and daily skills – like brushing teeth, tying shoes, potty training, or washing hands

Occupational therapy supports kids at home, at school, and in everyday life—so they can feel confident and capable in the things they do every day.

How my practice is special

one
Support That Starts With Connection

I believe strong relationships are the foundation of great therapy. I work closely with both kids and their caregivers, using a coaching model that helps parents feel calm, confident, and truly connected to their child’s growth.

two
Therapy That Fits Your Family

I love working in the home because it allows me to meet kids where they’re most comfortable. Being in your space helps me tailor support that fits naturally into your daily routines—making progress feel easier and more meaningful.

three
Playful, Movement-Based Support

Whether we’re splashing in the water or playing on the floor, I use movement and sensory-based activities to build strength, coordination, and body awareness. Kids are learning—and they’re having fun while doing it.

Client testimonials

Melissa has been working with our son for the last year and a half. She's been nothing but professional, kind, patient and fun! My son is often shy to warm up to new people, and she was able to make a connection with him. Her OT and therapy knowledge has been so helpful for our family as we have been learning about our son's condition and how we can best support him. Melissa is very patient when she includes our family during in-home sessions; she's accommodating and flexible! We're so lucky to have met Melissa, and I'd recommend her to anyone who is looking for an All-Star occupational therapist!
