Helping Kids Thrive with Speech Therapy

Hi, I’m Michelle!

I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist with five years of experience supporting children with diverse communication needs, specializing in functional communication, AAC, assistive technology, and working with autistic individuals, and I use a play-based, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming approach while collaborating closely with families to support meaningful communication in everyday life.

Why I love what I do:

What I love most about my job is helping children find their voice and connect with the world around them, and I find it incredibly meaningful to see them communicate in new ways—whether through speech, AAC, or play—while building strong relationships with their families.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

I’m excited about in-home therapy because it allows me to support children in the environments where they feel most comfortable and communication naturally occurs, while working closely with families to incorporate strategies into everyday routines.

What does a Speech Therapist Do?

Speech-language pathologists (also known as speech therapists or SLPs) help kids communicate—whether they’re late to talk, hard to understand, or struggling to express themselves. They also support kids with feeding, swallowing, and social interaction.

SLPs focus on:
Speech sounds – helping kids say words clearly so others can understand them

Language development – building vocabulary, following directions, and expressing ideas

Social skills – learning how to have conversations, ask questions, advocate for their needs, and take turns

Stuttering – supporting smoother, more confident speech

Feeding and swallowing – helping with picky eating, chewing, swallowing challenges, and texture sensitivities.

Speech therapy gives kids the tools to express themselves and connect with the people around them—at home, in school, and in the world.
